France can be a great choice of destination to explore by hire car. What image springs to mind when you think about visiting France? France has a whole host of excellent roads, and has easy links to the surrounding countries by well operated border crossings. Some of the roads in France do impose a toll, it may well be worth calculating toll costs before you plan your trip, as in many cases it is more cost effective to take a domestic flight and pick up your hire car closer to your eventual destination. One word of advice to road travellers in France, especially those who have hired their own vehicle, food in service stations along the major roads is infamously expensive, save yourself some money by stocking up on snacks and drinks before you pull on to the highway. |
